Park Head

Park Head

Park Head from the extensive garden What makes Park Head special?
This truly unique property is a peaceful retreat set deep in the Halswell estate and enjoys fine views over open countryside. A truly peaceful location makes Park Head popular with both families or those wanting a getaway-from-it-all weekend. On any day of the year you may fling open a window and listen to the sounds of nature all around you. Bird song is very much in evidence and during the evening the gentle bleating of sheep grazing on the parkland pasture could almost transport you back to the mid-eighteenth century rather than keep you in the twenty-first! No car noise, no neighbours, just peace and quiet.

The building was originally designed as the estate forge in the late 1750s and is called Park Head quite simply because it is positioned at the entrance to the parkland which surrounds Halswell.

Now a comfortable and stylish home from home Park Head is ideally suited to families with children with its multi-levelled lawns sub-dividing the garden into a series of play areas should the need arise. The level terraced area outside the formal dining room is perfect for alfresco dining and from here you may glimpse the layout of the garden with its adherence to a clever planting scheme allowing for colour throughout much of the year.

How to get there
Park Head is easily accessed from exit 24 of the M5, which is 6 miles (10km) away, and there are great walks in the Quantock Hills from the front door of the property. Bridgwater is the local town (home of carnival) and the large village of North Petherton is a short drive down the country lanes should you need a post office or that extra pint of milk in a hurry!

What is nearby?
The famous gardens of Hestercombe are only a few miles away, so too is Dunster Castle, and the sacred site of Glastonbury Abbey is only 15 (25km) miles east. A number of regional attractions have special events so please click on SEE AND DO to find out more.
